Stop in for a cup of coffee

Thanks for the info.

I work for the State, and my current and possibly future job are both in the Union. So the pay is more and the raises would be identical. The part I dont like, is how they came up with the staff they have, doing the jobs they do currently. It screams do more with less qualified people. I work in the Facilities Dept. doing building maintenance (HVAC) currently. They have basic repair workers, doing technical jobs which they have no idea about, etc... The Director that interviewed me yesterday said I would have to train these people, because the prior supervisor just did the work and didnt take the time. Hence the long hours. Well if they would hire the people that would actually know the job it would be different. The amount of OT he was talking about would easily pay for the correct employee. However, I have the feeling they will lock me down and not let me hire the correct employees.

I am not a person where work is my #1 priority, my family is and Im sorry, at the end of 8 hours, its my family time. I have no problem staying if there is an emergency, which is rare. Although to put in 10 hour days because the staff dont know what they are doing is not my ideal situation. Hire the proper staff.
or as I like to say - Lack of planning on your part does not constitute an emergency on mine.
