Stop in for a cup of coffee

Yep. I was part of a "Free classroom" experiment by our school district when I was in 3rd grade where we could learn at our own pace and with our own focus on a subject.

I read all 52 books that had been published by that year in a month of school days.

I followed that with 6 weeks of playing chess and then finished the 3rd and 4th grade math books cover-to-cover in the next month. Then I ignored the English and spelling books for the rest of the year and never did them.

When I was done 3rd grade, they couldn't decide whether to send me straight to 5th grade or hold me back a year to finish the English and spelling bits. They finally chose not to make a decision...and sent me into 4th grade. :D
I went to a little Catholic school called Scared Heart. In third grade I got moved into 5th grand math and science , but for social studies and English I stayed in 3rd. It was weird as heck. Would have been fine had they just moved me up a grade but in between my 3rd and 4th grade year, the school downsized and no longer went k-12 but K-5th so my 4th and 5th grade years I got stuck doing the same math I'd already learned. Ended up getting into a lot of trouble because I got my work done so much quicker than anyone else that I started being disruptive. Spent half my time in the principals office who happened to be a nun and she didn't like that I wasn't catholic to begin with so yeah. Not fun
