Thought I'd give a kudos to Dave, last name unknown, who sold me a 4611S carburetor for my 69 Cuda 340-S. I have had a 4611S AVS on the car for a long time (since I bought it in 1978) but the one on it has been tinkered with and needs cleaning up and going through again.
Dave's 69 carb was in need of some minor cleaning, some minor linkage correction, and a few part replenishments externally. I still need to put the dashpot on but another member Mike has offered me several and I need to get them soon.
For those unfamiliar wth the Carburetor Shop in Eldon, MO, it is ran by an expert named Jon Hardgrove. John knows his carburetors and parts and has brand new AVS's and in fact, most anything Carter had. He bought their stock when they went out. Jon's kits cost twice what other's cost but they contain a lot of parts you don't get from others. I have supplied an image below that shows what comes in his kits for AVS carburetors.
The rebuilt 4611S starts and runs fine. I need to fix the choke as the heat isolator plate really screws the adjustment but it does not get driven in the cold very often. You can tell from my photos that I need to repaint the 340. It has been in the car since since 1985 and it really needs cleaned and repainted and a few items resealed again. Maybe this summer!
Anyway, thanks Dave for making me the sweet deal on the AVS and for the offer of the dashpots from Mike, yet another FABO member.
