I'm doing some minor body repair and need recommendations on "Rattle can" primer. I have been told NOT to use Rustoleum primer. What would you experts recommend? Thanks, Litz

Is your repair to a bare metal surface? If so, there are two part epoxy paints that come in a rattle cans. This would provide for the best temporary repair. One of the biggest concerns you need to worry about is compatibility with what ever top coat/substrate your using it on or over. Some will go in to automatic wrinkle mode. Makes a frecken mess. Go have a chat with a local automotive paint store. Info from a professional and it costs no more than your time.

Eastwood comes to mind on the two part.

Thanks for all the comments. I will be eventually be painting the car with single stage acrylic enamel. Maybe I should spray some of the enamel over the rustoleum primer to check the compatibility?

I've got to refinish my inner fenderwell because my BRAND NEW master cylinder leaked at the cover seal !
Had to file flat the top sealing surface , but by that time it had blistered the paint directly below the MC.

Went single stage when I painted the car luckily but I still dont want to pull the motor/Steering gear etc ...

I've used rustoleum quite a bit without any issues. Mostly in areas you won't see unless you really dig, but never had issues with adhesion or quality of the finish and I've applied over bondo, scuffed paint, undecoating, bare metal.

I used Rust-Oleum high build sandable auto primer in a can and used TCP globals restoration shop single stage acrylic urethane right over top of it and it came out great
