Reason I ask is I've used a Crane hydraulic with a similar intake lobe and made a lot more hp on a stock piston 440 with my ported 516 heads and a 6bbl.
Porting will help. It helped my 100% stock Neon and pretty much anything else it's done one. Assuming that the rest of the engine package is matched well and in good order and the porting is of good quality. The valve job can do a lot of what basic porting does if it's done with the right equipment by someone who wants to do a good job. It will also enhance any port work you pay for. So there may be more to getting more power than just porting. Make sure the rings are sealing (leakdown) and have the heads gone through a the same time. Then work with the head porter to match a new cam choice to what you have.

ing built by local builder no head work other than valve job was done that I know of (only one head man in the area he was sick could not get to them at the time of build) I chose the triy headers for the trq potential. when it goes back together will look at different headers thinking about roller cam but I like the flat trq curve that I have, with the cam I have now from 2500 to 5500 I have no less than 460 ft trq peak @3200 with 506 with a different cam I would like to see the curve just bigger #s

Yeah that's the case sometimes. It just doesnt come off as it being the exhaust system that is responsibleas to why this thing isn't making more then mid 400's. Even seeing "triys"...lol..love the way some type, and that cam, speaking of which was ground with those in mind I'm thinking.

You hit it imo and I just caught it like the Tri Y thing, "2.14/1.81" .....wonder how much was blended, or not.
Bigger valves need bowl work flow well and or at least a good throat cut to not go the other direction ...that can be a killer.
