Lay down Sally...

So have been trying to start the new engine. When I crank it over, it sounds like the starter is grinding. I pull it and reset it. Still does it. It is engaging the teeth it appears. Have not gotten under it and had someone crank it. Bad starter maybe? Or something I am missing?
