My Dad did that to me "once" and I never forgot it, and I never was scared of it after that either.
Never held it against him.
I have probably been slapped 100 times or more in my life from various projects, ignitions and experiments and there are worse more painful things. (like when you hit the back of your head on the hood after the shock) :D
