Considering a Silver Sport Transmission

I want overdrive, and was gonna go the 42RH route. Just discovered the SST A41 (GM ) transmissions and wanted to get some thoughts.

Pros of SST:

Good customer service
electronic controller
sport vs cruise mode switch
Includes linkages, new console plate, and torque converter
Lower first gear
2 year install grace period before 1 year warranty begins

Cons of SST:
About $1000 more than a Hughes 42RH (42rh requires separate controller and TC purchase)
Tunnel mods (actually found out its probably the same)

FYI I'm not brand loyal on transmissions and I don't want to go the route of a dash switch for the TC and pressure switches for OD


Thoughts?

Couldn't agree more about considering the a41, and SST is a good company to deal with. I work with them on a regular basis.
 
Silversport took over the Kiesler stuff when they went out of business. I found thier customer service excellent when I contacted them about the kiesler trans I bought from another member here. They were very helpful with sending me the programming and other info to update the trans. Maybe one day I will actually have it in and find out how it does
 
HGM Electronics in CA has a Compushift module you can program to your liking for the 42RH. Converters are cheap for it too, if you don't want anything special. I'd go the 42RH route.
All RH Dodge transmissions work the same, so it will work.

Yes that's the controller I was referencing. It's an ok solution but it's nowhere near as flexible and programmable as the sst one.

What about the transmission output? If it's GM will I need a new slip yoke? I assume yes
 
you only need to control LU and OD,and it controls when it engages and disengages and by throttle position, so how much more flexibility you need?

I don't really know haha...but I would assume more control is better
 
I don't know what kind of car it's going in but a Mopar overdrive unit will not clear the crossmember in an A-body if that's what you have. Cutting and welding is involved. From what I've read this is not necessary to install a GM OD trans
