The battery I have is old. Don't trust it.

What kind should I get?
1974 Duster. With a 340
Sorry if this is a silly question

Thanks!

Yeah i have a Red Top. It starts super! There is some comments elsewhere that red top has gone downhill for quality sake. However mine has been just sweet so far. It is about 5 or 6 months old. I let my car sit for days even a whole week straight. Starts right up no problem!

FYI I got my optima through ebay the cheapest. Although warranty might be a little tricky to get honored I guess. Seller stated on listing if any issue contact him and he would exchange for another as needed.

I have put a new MOPAR battery in both my 66 Barracuda and the 74 Scamp that I purchased from my local Chrysler dealer. They weren't that expensive, the one in the Barracuda has been in there for at least 5 years and the Scamp for about 2 years and I have never had to charge them or have had any problems with them at all.

I have optima red tops in all of my cars that run at all, so, that currently makes 5. The oldest one I've had for about 7 years. I've only had to put it on a charger a couple times, and they were all my fault for killing the battery. And even the oldest one was after they moved the plant, so they're all from the new factory.

Id get one from your local dodge dealer, should be a group 34. Looks the best in the engine compartment, those red optimas look ugly imho but i deff would run one if i had to

Can't see the battery from the drivers seat, don't care what anybody else thinks. :D

Not worth changing the battery every 2-3 years just so it looks good. It's a battery.

Gold series from Farm & Fleet! 80 bucks and good for about 6-7 years. :D

It basically depends on how much you want to spend. Remember that you will only be running the car approximately 6 months a year, just make sure you charge your battery once or twice during the winter and a cheapo like I run can last quite a bit longer than you think. Mine is on its eleventh year and it only cost me like under $75.00. Don't let it freeze and you will be all right with anything.

i was planning on running a optima due to the concern of needing a agm battery to withstand hard launches but after some looking the mopar group 34 batt comes in the viper so I figured it was fine

Most of mine end up in a battery box in the trunk anyway. :D
