Demon and Dart Sport Scoop Location

Sorry no pictures at the moment but just wanted to add a little to this. I own a 1974 Dart Sport 360's with the J54 hood scoop. It is all original paint loaded with just about every available options (Sunroof, Fold down back seat, Cruise control, Heated back window, AM/FM radio, Tuff Wheel, Light package, A/C, P/S, PDB, Tinted glass, Body side moldings, Body tape treatment, Bumper guards, etc.). I had another almost identical one in red, with the J54 (stamped on the fender tag) hood scoop option but decided to sell recently it to reduce my collection. It also had the Convertrible Option. My car is all wrapped up on jack stands and has been in storage for many years. One day when I unwrap it I'll take some pictures and post it. I know pictures speak a thousand words.

Both has the holes with rubber grommets and hood tape treatment. It was mandatory to have the hood tape treatment if you have the J54 hood scoop option. I did notice that that the area over the vent at the base of the windshield is NOT tape but paint.

Apparently, the J54 scoop was NOT a performance OPTION, unlike the '70 340 Swingers and '71 340 Demons, which came standard with the two separate hood scoops. I remember seeing an original/unrestored 1973-74 Dart Sport with a 318 in the 1970's with the twin snorkel scoop with the 4" holes and grommets.

I'm almost positive in 1972 the snorkel hood scoop was an option on the 340 Demons because I remember seeing them without the scoop new. Just to warn you original factory hood scoops were two piece. The '72 Demons had it's own base while the '73-74 had a different base (different part #'s) due to different shaped hoods. '72 Demons had a flat base while the '73-74's had a peak in the middle due to the ridge in the middle of the hoods. The top piece were all the same with the same with the same part numbers. BTW, did you know that the '73-75 Dart Sport hoods are the same as on '69 Barracuda's?

Be aware that the repos of the snorkel hood scoop are one piece and are smaller than the factory scoop. The ones I saw were not very well made.
