Espo Shackle Kit problem

Guys,
I received a rear shackle kit from Espo (Springs & Things)
The nuts initially go on for a few threads but then are almost to tight(feels like they are threading).Are they supposed to be like this? Self locking? Sorry first time doing leaf springs.

Espo makes them slightly longer than stock for more support... they will be fine..

Just snug the nut or the stud will break... #0 ft lbs will break them...
 
I did some about a year ago and did not have the same issue. I think they sent you the wrong nuts...even locking ones with teflon or whatever don't feel like they are stripping out when tightening
 
old school nuts where hammered oblong on one side to make them bite but modern ones use Nylon I would take one off and see if it is out of round .
