Stop in for a cup of coffee

I've also been told and read many times on here that you want your total somewhere from 32-36*. So Im not following you with adding more, because that can cause pinging correct?
Detonation will only occur if your advance exceeds the available fuel and you are running lean. It's not about what you add so much as when you add it. More advance just needs more fuel so it can use it efficiently across the curve. This is why it's a balance between A/F ratio and ignition timing to get the acceleration curve optimized.

Racing is about WOT, street driving is about all throttle positions, RPMs and engine loads.

What cam are you running and what is the manufacturers recommended advance curve?

With 9:1 compression and 93 octane fuel, the 360 magnum engine can take 50° total advance if the A/F ratio is correct across the timing curve.
