why do people help make old cars look bad

painted bumpers? I had many E bodies back I 80's and very early 90's ( then got smarter! ha).... very few came with those " painted "rubber " bumpers. few! but those were a highly regarded option. so lets take this thought to the A body. if a guy has a BAD oem chrome bumper, what is such a crime to clean that up and paint it body color?? it could be replaced later with a good chrome one if so desired. the "sport" model RAMS with body color bumpers? look cool to me.
big thing on redoing a grill if need be, is to understand what the oem paint was, color and texture. or if not worried bout such, just spray it whatever!! ha
