what parts left off for $4000.?
I just finished installing the brand new brake shoes/cylinders and I will have the drums turned. I'll still include that and install them so the car will roll on the ground. I'll re-install the gas tank. I'll even still include the new a/c dryer and valve.
The parts that I will leave off that I would have installed for the $6,000 are: battery, r134a conversion kit and freon, brake lines and hoses, neutral safety wiring, a brand new set of 4 tires mounted and balanced (not a premium brand).
They are basically parts that will be needed anyway, but you could save by not having me install it all. The car should have its muffler replaced and a small section of the exhaust tube repaired. The timing and tuning of carb do still need to be done and there is a possibility that the voltage regulator is bad. It also may be a good idea to replace the master cylinder.
All these prices are good at least through the end of THIS week. I had not installed the brake shoes and cylinders when i originally listed and they would have been an item left off at the $4,000 price. But i am including them for now. I just found out about the brake lines and hoses and wasn't planning on those before either. So next week, if I don't get any farther, the prices will be $4,500-$6,500. If I had charged a customer the hours that I've spent fixing this car, it would have been over this price just in labor. Not to mention the $1,000+ in parts I have spent in addition to buying the car (not including the parts I would leave off to sell at $4,000).
This is my profession and I'm not a shady individual. You can be assured that any of the repairs I've done have been done well. I usually only work on customer cars, but when I saw the condition and documentation of this car, I couldn't stand to watch it waste and get chewed up. I am a car guy through and through and love the history. If you'd like more info, pm me. I'm sure I could figure out a way to send you a video of it running.
Thanks
