Ok, what am I missing here???
They want to release one million (sterile male mosquitoes that won't bite) into the population to control the mosquito population to help keep the "regular" mosquitoes from spreading diseases...
How do you breed all male mosquitoes that can't/won't bite humans???? How do you know they won't/can't bite???
Then how does a population of sterile male mosquitoes help reduce the population of mosquitoes??? Do the female mosquitoes think they are having sex with a fertile male and then think they are pregnant when they aren't??? What if she breeds with more than one male and eventually gets with a fertile one??? (are female mosquitoes sluts???)
How is this going to help keep the mosquito population down and help prevent spreading diseases???
