I like to build my own to make sure that there are no short cuts and it's done right...
Eddy fully understands my philosophy, he's the same way... He bought a "rebuilt" 69 340 for his car, and we tore it down to the short block and found some cheapo stuff: the timing chain was a metal gear single row, the valve seats were not hardened, the cam the guy put in it was smaller than a stock 360 2 bbl cam... He interpreted "stock" rebuild loosely... Yeah, a stock 318 chain and cam...
Luckily Eddie listened to me and we corrected everything when we built it back up... My head guy went through his heads, we put a nice cam in that RustyRatRod recommended which was close to what my head guy recommended (just one step off), and we put in an Edelbrock true roller double roller timing chain...
