The Nationals 2017 Check-in

I've been going every year since 1983 except for the couple years it moved to Indy. The weather was good and I'd say it was the best spectator attendance in quite a while. I checked in with Hemi Denny first then moved onto the car corral and swap meet. I got hungry so went back to the big white tent but all the brats were gone. Finished cruising the swap and for the first time in my entire life, didn't buy a single thing at a swap meet. I already have way too many parts I need to put on two cars and need to make some progress before buying more junk. I noticed subtle improvements at the facility and have heard nothing but good things about the new owners so it should get even better. Under NHRA ownership that place really deteriorated.

Went to Carlisle this year and each event has it's positives. Two distinct vibes. FCA didn't seem to have a presence again this year though there was a new black Demon kind of tucked away without any signs, ropage or anything, just a car. Didn't bother with the cruises this year because it just isn't the same. Brice Rd in its prime was the best. So I got home at 9:30 instead of after midnight.
See you next year. Woodward Dream Cruise is this weekend and I'll be there in the Vert.
