Sloppy steering part 2

I've been reading about floating front ends . Add me to the list . I have a new federal pump and don't really want to tear it apart and shim . To let you know everything is new ,front end steering box , everything, and yes caster and camber are out of whack. I will address these issues first but I know from feel the steering is way lite. I want to get things close so I can have it aligned. My question... I'm looking at the adjustable steering valves. Heidts has one for $90. more then I really want to spend. Northern Tool sells an adjustable one way with no return for $40. would this work or do I need a return through the valve as in the Heidt valve.
In other words are the both lines adjusted when going through the Heidts to keep even pressure or is there no concern on the back low.
