What header or headers fit best on a slant? I have a 74 Duster with A/C and power steering. You would think someone would make a perfect fitting header with all that room.

I am putting Clifford shorties on mine. My builder got them. I didn't question it.

Never heard of shorties for the slant

Then you very obviously haven't put any research into this AT ALL.

The Dutra Duals will be great for what you want and last forever. You should listen.

You might should've. You'll hear the name "Clifford" come up, but be very careful before you decide to spend any money with Clifford. They have a long and ugly reputation for being a bunch of clowns; see for example here, here, here, here, and here. Much of what they sell is inaccurately described, and a lot of it is not even slightly cost-effective.

Even if it weren't for Clifford's monkeyshines, though, you still should've questioned it. Don't just automatically assume "headers = great" or "headers = best". Use the right tool for the job.

Dan I understand but the use of what I am trying to accomplish the Clifford shorties will work. They are a good used set. I got a good deal. I do take your advice seriously as you have a wealth of knowledge.

A photo of Clifford shorty's. Just for reference. The product is good but don't fit the 170 (hits steering box) just the 198/225.Clifford sales/service is not the best.

Thanks Darter! What issues did you run into bolting it up? I have power steering-looks like the header on the left is real close.

The 3 bolt block bosses in the photo is where the bracket bolts. It may be close with Federal pump but ok with the Saginaw. You may have to do some fab work with the A/C brackets.Again the photo was just for reference.

You should be OK. With an 225 in a early "A" body (66 and older), the Clifford headers don't work with power steering. They hit the steering box. They do not work in any car with the 170, hit the steering box, even with manual steering. In both situations the front header can be modified to clear the steering box.

What about the Aussiespeed long tube headers? They also make the 4bbl intake manifold to match. This is all new to me too.

With all that room, can you buy exhaust flanges and fab your own? This doesnt look that complicated in tube:

You can also chop a log in half and mount 2 flanges shotgun style. Its not pretty but half of an econo "Dutra and a half" is a log with the front 3 runners cut and blocked off.
