any issues lifting '68 barracuda this way? has 489 rear-end.

no BUT depending on what your doing underneath there, i would HIGHLY suggest putting jackstands on the outside of the axles, that part of the car would be a natural pivot point and i wouldnt trust my life to just a jack underneath it

yes, absolutely. thanks, did this always with the old cars in the day but guess I'm being a little extra cautious with the 'baby'..

The baby is a 68...what in the world were the old cars ?

Look at it this way -- the rear axle is already holding up half the weight of the car. Putting a jack under it isn't changing that. Not to mention, that 8-3/4 case is built to hold up a lot larger car than an A-body.

It's not quite that simple... the spring pads, where half the car weight (less the weight of the axle and rear wheels) is transferred to the axle, are close to the tires and there are two of them. When you pick up the car by the center section at a single point, you're providing two bigger lever arms to bend the housing between there and the spring pads.

That said, everyone does it and they don't bend ;) Mine is back-braced anyway so I have no worries about jacking.

No, but I do know I found it interesting on the slicker '92 and up full size Fords 4.6L and all, there was a tag or something that said plainly NOT to do that on them.
