Magnum swapping the 72 Scamp!
A little progress update.
Ran into a small hiccup with the kevko oil pan (per another thread) when I realized I didn't have the correct stud to attach the pickup to on the #3 main. I sawed off the tab hoping maybe I could get away with it loose but after installing it, it really didn't give me good feelings. So at the advice of a few here and elsewhere I had it welded back on and had a small stud welded to the bottom of the main bolt.
Its a good thing I did as well because after checking the pickup distance from the bottom of the pan I had to bend the tab down a bit and use a couple washers underneath the tab to get it dialed in. Now its sitting about 3/8" off the bottom with gasket measuring using clay
I also check the cam timing, not too hard and good piece of mind but it all came back really square and matched cam card.
I got a set of EQ heads from Brian at Imm and went with his recommendations on top end parts. According to him some light bowl work and a light shave off the heads. I kept the valves stock sized due to using stock pistons and the risk of larger valves not clearing without valve reliefs. They also got a nice coat of hemi orange.
New lifters installed
Used some ARP head bolts and heads are now on!
