New member- 65 2 door dart

hey everyone! My name is Shaun. I did post in the early A body section first, but thought i should properly introduce myself here. I am 33 years old and have owned about 30 cars. A couple old falcons and galaxies, lots of chevy c10 and vw bugs. I never even considered anything mopar. Well a few years ago my late good friend Steve Theiss passed away. He was a drag racer from the 70's. His car was a hemi GTX. He always bragged about mopar and how much more power their engines make than chevy and ford and just how much better in general they are. I learned a lot from him and he got me more interested in mopar. Last year I bought the wife a brand new Dodge Durango R/T with the 5.7 Hemi. We love that car and im very impressed with the engine and overall car. That was our first dodge. I have been looking for a project for my 8 year old son and I to build. Well, about a mile from my work last week I see an ad for a 65 dart 270. He originally had it up for 3500 or best offer. That was too much for me to spend. I kept looking around at all the old cars on the interweb for sale, and i see a new ad, for the same car. 1300 bucks! What? how can that be? So, i arranged a meetup after work. The car looked pretty straight beside the fender, trunk, and license plate area. No rust really anywhere. I took it on a 20 minute test drive and it did fine. I still wasnt exactly sold on a 65 dart. I gave my dad a call and to sum it up he basically said what the hell are you waiting for? A 2 door dart that runs and drives for 1300!! Go buy it now. So, i started talking to the seller and he said its his buddys and hes in a pinch for cash that he needs today, thats why the price dropped. I said Ill give you 900 cash right now, he said sold let me get you the title. I couldnt believe it, running driving car in this day and age with the internet and car shows inflating prices. I feel like i really scored. After i saw my kids reaction when i got it home it was so worth it. They love it and after driving it and tinkering for a week, i love the car too. Someone told me that you dont choose an old mopar, the mopar chooses you. I think thats definitely true here
