hacked

Fired an old laptop up and it was infected. It was sitting on the desk and in the middle of dinner this deep voice asks "Are you a girl or a boy? " Im like "WTF?" and my wife is giving me the stink eye. Its some fantasy cartoon game. Edge kept opening like 20 websites so I just turned wifi off and it finally died. So I installed Avast and it finds 2 threats, and Malware bytes finds a 3rd, then Avast keeps detecting threats about websites that are trying to open through Edge, saying they are all infected with MAL.something. I dont know what the heck these sites are and I have never been to some Australian fashion site...? Now its settled down but it was hosed. Im selling it so I need it to be somewhat functional. Now its doing a "working on updates" and its been on 69% for 15 minutes......uh oh. ooh, now its 70%...im good now.
