Need 1966 Dart GT Hypo Info
First of all, welcome to FABO. The Dart you're looking at sounds like a keeper especially with the low miles, AC, and disc brakes. The "Charger 273" is a great little engine rated at 235 horsepower. Back in 66 they didn't have vin's stamped on the blocks and transmissions. That wasn't started until about 1968 so there is no way you can have a "numbers matching" drive train but the car probably has the original drive train. Date code correct is as close as you can come.
Lets get into production numbers a bit. I'll make a chart to make it easier.
Total 1966 Dart GT production..........23,796
170 slant 6.........................................428
225 slant 6.....................................12,969
273 2 barrel.....................................7,543
273 4 barrel.....................................2,856
4 speed.....................................1,237
automatic..................................1,619
Unfortunately there is no further breakdown for these cars and all include hardtops and convertibles. Yes it is a rare car. One of only 1,619 with of that model with that engine/trans combination.
The D Dart drag cars were a very limited production model with just a handful left.
@ddartdude is the expert on those.
When you get a chance we would love to see some photos and more about the car. toolmanmike
