I can see needing this in upstate ny type of weather but they really aren’t needed here in south jersey in my personal experience.im sure they work well but we don’t get too much snow and ice lately or consistently.
Long Island is much the same, BUT, in cycles, we can and do get a good pounding. The worst was 36 inches in one day long storm. Normally we call 12+ a crummy day.
We have it good with the ocean next to us. The storms allways give up a little bit. Forecasts are always “3-6 with 2 or more north and west of the city” almost every time.
It may not be typical northern winter, but I’ll take it over some of the other snow fall amounts I see.
