That's a weight that bolts to the back of a trans to help control vibration....

Good luck finding the bushings. The dealer offered to sell a complete weight with bushings, but no individual bushings.
My fix was to find a truck repair center. They had some heavy rubber air line hose for the tractor trailer rigs that was the perfect ID & OD size to replace the bushings with.
A couple inches and I had it back in "better than new" as this air line is resistant to oil & transmission fluid.

PS - I drove the car it was in (an '88 Gran Fury) for a couple months without the weight. I could tell no difference when I put it back on. When I transferred the set up to my Duster I kept the weight attached.

Thank you all! I couldn't find any info on this weight last night and it was driving me nuts. Good idea on the air line hose. I'll give that a shot.

I finally got around to replacing the bushings in my tailshaft weight. I thought I'd follow-up to share a link and picture of the hose I used. I purchased it from a local hose supplier. Thanks to "clhyer" for the tip! I cut the hose slightly longer than the inside diameter bushing so it would mushroom a little and provide a nice tight fit. The hose I used has an ID of 0.5".

Those also helped a lot with vibration caused during and after lock up and likely aren’t really needed too badly if not used with the original gear and trans and converter in the original car.

I always saw these in a lot of the big boat cars like newports. I think I had a volare wagon that had it too. I always pulled them and chucked them in the trash.

I never knew what they were for. In my eyes it was extra dead weight and had to go.
I wonder if they actually make a noticeable difference.

There were counterweights on exhaust too....
