The last restoration I did was for me, 1971 Hemi Cuda, now it is the wife's turn. Her dream car is a 1974 Dart Sport, something her mom had when she was young so it is pretty cool to bring that back to her.

We picked up a Sport 360 that is going to need a complete restoration, but it does have all the original parts at least. Going to have lots of question as we learn all the details of this car, same thing I went through with the 71 Cuda. We are just at the start of this. Rear end is out and the engine tranny will be out and getting it on the rotisserie this week end. Here are a couple to start out.

This car came with the horizontal stripe that runs front to back and the "Dart Sport" decal on the tail panel. She wants to switch it to the decal that goes up over the roof "Daisy Duke" look to it. My question is could you get the 360 sport with that type of decal or not.

Also something I noticed that seems to be odd is the placement of the "DODGE" emblem on the rear, our car has it on the tail panel. I have been noticing why looking around a pictures of others cars for ideas that alot of them are on the lip of the trunk lid, what is the correct replacement.

Also if I am correct their is no way to tell if it is the original rear end in the car? They were not marked like the engine and tranny.

Congrats on your new project! I am not sure about your stripe question but the rear end did not have number that would match your vin. It might have a date code that would be correct for you car. It sounds like you know what you are getting into, so good luck with your project. Be sure and post pics of your journey ( something I haven't done with my project ).

They did have the stripe over the roof in that year.
There was a little old lady that drove around here for years in a red one with white stripes and interior.
It was a cream puff, looked all original.

I know they did offer the stripe in 1974, I wonder though if it was available on a 360 car?

The little old lady's car was slant.
The car you are building is for the wife, I would advise making it the way she wants it.

Funny you should say that because she is making it to match the car her mom had, which had the slant 6. It is going to go yellow with the over the roof stripe for sure, I am just curious more then anything if that combo was available on a 360 Sport.

Here is a picture of her moms from back in the day.

Replace the yellow and black with red and white and you match the little old lady's car.
I am sure she has passed on, but have not seen the car locally for around 10 years or more.

I bet if Chrysler had an option on a slant car, it was available on higher trim package cars.

Great car! Should be 8 1/4 suregrip rear.

Yep that is what's in it, haven't checked the ratio on it yet. Got the motor and tranny dropped out tonight and verified that the VIN numbers match on both of those. Engine block was not stamped very well, if I didn't know what the numbers were suppose to be I don't know that I could have read them.

74 360's have updated front suspension with disc brakes, big bolt pattern wheels, and factory sway bar. They also have electronic ignition, the biggest thermoquad on a small block, first year for upgraded seat belts, and more. Great cars with lots of torque.

Lucky girl!

Great looking project. Have fun together!
