68 barracuda 383s "Driver Paint Resto"

-
Hey Darren that is awesome!! I want to ask. Is paint SPI paint or PPG? I know you mentioned using SPI epoxy primer but I wonder on the top coat. Also is it a single stage paint or base coat clear coat?

Nothing like the F8 dark green. I painted mine 3 years ago. Lots and Lots of hours sanding primer. Also stripped to bare metal. Yours is looking really nice.

Yep, mine snowballed like that. I now have new bumpers, restored tail panels, restored grill shells, a few other new pieces of chrome, new glass, and etcetera.

I told the Wife "all as I want to do this year is get it painted.. that's it"
Lol

Nice.. mine is GG1 color

Mine was originally a GG1 car. I did some searching and found a "newer" more widely available color that was a pretty good match. Paint code is GM 91/wa9529. I had a few spots under the splash shields and under the package tray that had not seen sunlight since 1968, if ever, and I could not tell the difference between that color and the bottle of 91/wa9529 touch up paint I purchased. So had it painted w/ the PPG basecoat clearcoat and then they wet sanded the car and buffed it. One of these days I'll park it next to a GG1 car and see if I can tell the difference.

Thats some good info.. make sure and let us know when you match it up to a GG1 car..

Back in the 80's early 90's seem like 50% o the mopars were originally that dark (army) green met., when that paint is 25 yrs old and been sitting outside all that time, it did not look great. BUT, with fresh paint, it is a beautiful color!!
Unfortunately bout ever original green mopar back then, the color was changed to red or B5 blue!!

Finally starting to put car back together.
Not much progress, but a picture anyway.

I put the front valance on today , the guy that painted the Cuda was not able to wet sand the valance because it was to flimsy, so I took a shot at wet sanding the valance after it was installed. Although the picture is not the best I am really happy with how it turned out.

Yes the finals should start this week, just waiting what team will make it through in the west. All Marlies games are on "Leafs TV" and they might have the finals on TSN.

1 down and 1 to go. Lots of hours spent on this passenger side grill . Dings, paint , polish you name it.
Good enough for a driver. Now for the driver side lol.
