Magnum Cam recommendation
For me, that cam duration @.050 is IMO the first step above stock everyday useage cam that delivers (when properly complimented) an excellent response that can be used everyday with anyone. From new driver to a cranky 101 YO grandma.
I had such a crappy experience and crappy customer relations with them I doubt I’ll go back ever. Only Paxton was worse.
That was exactly what I was going for as a daily around the local towns driver, plus I didn't want to get into durations that might be a detriment to fuel economy when I didn't need it.
I might go a bit longer durations in the future, but we'll see.
Timing was a pretty big deal to me also, as I wanted it right on the edge and got it there.
I run 19-20 initial with 34 total and all in around 2,500 and when I got the vacuum advance dialed in I could actually feel the difference at light throttle in the 2-3,000 range.
It felt like the car rolled easier and needed less throttle to do it.
Been running the same NGK FR5 plugs for close to a year now and they still look practically like new. (Yep the large 13/16 body type in the EQ heads designed for peanuts)
Had to make a special thin wall plug socket for that.:D
I just don't trust a peanut plug with the HEI, but it's probably not warranted and just me.
I watched them pretty close for a few weeks and then checked them again every couple of months from then on.
I couldn't hear any detonation, but with Flowmaster mufflers and 2.5 inch pipes coming out right in front of the tires on both sides it ain't that easy to hear.:D
