And helps suck the heat from the radiator right over the top of the engine into the carb. Heat extraction vents are best used on each side of the engine above the exhaust manifolds or directly behind the radiator.

If you use a center mounted extraction scoop, you’d better plumb another source of fresh air into the carb or you are just shooting yourself in the foot.
