1970 duster steering column

here is a picture of my steering column were shaft comes out the bottom of tube. does this look correct or not? is there suppose to be something at bottom of tube like a bushing or bearing? or is it suppose to have all that clearance? I will sure be glad when I run out of questions, because I will be done with this project! I am spending more time on this site than I am working on my car!
