Stop in for a cup of coffee

Well I was plenty green myself at one time. I remember taking my first engine apart. I asked a guy, where are the bearings, looking for what I thought bearings looked like, ball bearings!! He was kind of short with me! I was 18 in the navy. I have since taught myself a lot, with some help from my friends!
Me too.. Only I was dumb as bucket of hair to boot. Rebuilt my first engine, 72 340.. 10.5:1 pistons, 284/484 cam, (everything else stone stock).. Figured I'd have the fastest car on the planet... spent 2 weeks trying to get the damned thing to run.. just cranked and cranked (probably ruined the cam before it ever fired). Had a half-dozen young brainiacs look at it too. everything was spot on.. Figured i really dicked something up putting it together.

Older guy came over to look at it.. closed the choke on the thermoquad and it popped right off! 2 weeks and never considered a choke!

Motor was a complete dog until it hit about 3k. sounded great tho..

I sure wish I knew then what I know now (which is still admittedly limited)..
