Hey fabo, not sure if this is in the right section. But I was wondering if anyone had or knows the part numbers for a complete swap for going from small bolt pattern to big bolt pattern on a 72 Dart. My car still has the sbp upfront with the factory power disks. I was wanting to change the bolt pattern to the 4 1/2” bolt pattern so I could fit the same wheels front and back.

Would anyone have a part number for like A new brake kit that would be a complete conversion for the abody. I know you can use 73 and up a body parts but that’s out of the question. There are none around home, and I have yet to see an abody in the junks and or the craigslist ads.

I’d like a complete bolt in kit. Looking to spend 1000-1500$ if that’s possible.

I’m also wondering on this, bore size for the master. Does anyone know what size I’d pick? I’m not near the car at the moment, is there a standard size for a factory disk brake a body or is there different sizes.

Call or email Cass at Doctor Diff. He can talk you through it all. I can say that I looked at doing the BBP conversion, and switch to discs at the same time. He was able to tell me everything I needed. I can't say for sure on yours, but on mine, I needed to switch to the bigger lower ball joint (he could provide) and he had adapters for my small upper balljoints to fit into the new spindles.

Bottom line, he can provide everything you will need and I'm thinking you will be well under your $1000-$1500 budget you mentioned.

I just pulled up the page on DrDiff site and right above the "Rotors" option you show in your attached picture is where you choose your options for balljoints. You can add the upper adapters I mentioned, Bolts & Nuts for lower big ball joints, and bigger balljoints, or just click the last option and add them all.

Come to think of it,.... if your car already has factory discs, but in the small bolt pattern, you might talk to him and see if you need all the rest of the parts, or if he just has rotors with the large pattern that would match up to your spindle. My guess would be no, but it never hurts to ask.

You could also check out SSBC or Scarebird..both work well but two different directions to get to the same place.

I was looking at ssbc but wasn’t sure on what kit was like a complete bolt in set up. I was wanting a complete kit, with everything needed. Was kinda hoping someone had purchased a kit and knows exactly what to buy lol

Roger my car has factory disks, I plan on contacting them but with the ten hour time difference is sort of hard haha.

I priced the kit and added the options, comes out to 895$. But is that for one side or complete set? Also I’m unsure of what bore size for the master cylinder as shown in that screenshot. Would anyone know what size I’d pick for that option.

I might be best off if I’d contact them. They should know.

With SSBC you can buy a couple diff kits depending on what you want to do. They have an at the wheel kit only or a complete with mc and components kit. Based on mustang platform I think.
I’ve heard good things about the scarebird kit too.

I pretty much just want to change the bolt pattern at the wheel. If I could keep my master and my booster, great. If there is a complete kit where I just remove the old and place the new even better. As long as it will bolt up to my car and change the factory bolt pattern and give me new and better brakes.

The ssbc kits I see all day “from drum to disks” or “must be o.e drum car” I take it there are a lot of differences.

Have Moser redrill for bigger bolt pattern your rotors and drums.
Dirt cheap

Wouldn’t that need to be the spindle that has to change bolt pattern. Or is it different from an average slip over rotor where the spindle holds the lugs? My rear already has 5x4.5” when I did the explorer 8.8 and 31 slpine setup.

No matter what brakes you decide on, you will still have disc front and drum rear, so the master cylinder, booster, lines, dist. block, etc... do not need to be changed.

I doubt you'll need new spindles. Probably just a new integral hub/disc, which is how the cars were originally made. Some other kits might use a hub with a separate disc. I'd say there is a good bet that Cass (Dr. Diff) will have what you need, at a decent price too.

Sounds good hopefully they reply to me in time. Would like to order them before I get back into the states and have them ready to install. Also looking for a 5 speed kit and she should be receiving paint surf this month. Spending a lot of my deployment earnings on this car lol

Utilizing the Mustang rotors is as simple as it sounds. Just machine the rotors as outlined in the thread, add the proper bearings, seals and stick 'em on.
