They pull timing at high RPM. When they start to go bad, sometimes you get a misfire or rough running when you try to accelerate. When they get worse, they will make the timing go all over the map. Since they are cheap, I just slap a new one in and make sure that isn’t the issue before chasing other stuff.
Agree they do - its the electronics. Its the dirty secret. Some are faster some are slower but even nowadays only a few designs are setup to compensate in the electronics. Most factory race efforts compensated in the distributor.
