I have one with 59,000 original miles on it.Bought it from the estate of this rich old lady who kept it at her summer home .Rust free with all the original little old lady scratches and dents ,and everything else including the light metallic mauve paint and white top with black boot.Slant 225 automatic, power top .Bucket seats, not a spot of rust anywhere on this car ! A real sweet ride. I've owned it since 2003 .It had just over 50 thousand on it then.

I have this little gem. It's a commando/auto/8 3.4" car. I was going to clone it into a convertible version of my Barracuda, but then I thought better of it when I found out it was an original commando car!

Nice, that's one of those cool colors you don't see all that often.

I know.I thought about doing it up with new paint and what not then came to my senses .It's only original once ! I can live with the patina. You know, they only made 2507 of these. They are rare cars. How many survived?

I know with only 2507 made and the last year for a Valiant convertible I've always have wondered the same thing. I wish there was some kind of a 66 valiant convertible regersty out there to try and get a better idea. Yeah someone asked if I was going to change the color on my light blue one, I said no way, that's part of why I like the car lol. Plus mine is a factory blue top so once I get that back on there it will look very unique.

Well, perhaps you just started a registry ! That happened to me 15 years ago with the 1965 Yamaha 250cc two stroke twins that I restore and today we have a group on Yahoo with 350 members worldwide. All from a friend at a swap meet asking the same thing you are about a registry.

Nice, that would be cool if this post ended up making the registry happen lol.

I don't have one, but this is my story. I had a great friend in VA, Larry . He had a very nice Valiant and he wanted a scale model of the car built. So I scratch built a 66 Valiant Convertible for him. There is no kit of this car. I even had his wife give me the title and I photocopied down a bunch of times and put that in the back seat. He gave me some paint from his car so I had the exact color. And since I built the 225 for his car anyway, I built him the same with a Gibson resin engine for the model. He are a couple of pictures, first the real car and then his model. We gave it to him on his birthday!

That's very cool, was it an original promo you started with or a resin repop? I have 65 That was a rebuilder that I'm making into a convertible.

Thanks, I started with a AMT 66 Barracuda Funny Car. Installed the trunk and

wheel wells from a 65 Valiant junk yard body. I had a 66 Valiant dash in the garage, took photos of the cluster and had a few photos reproduced in different scales till I had it right and glued it into the dash, it looked perfect!

Nice work! That's perfect the way you did the conversion, the trunk is one of the few things that stayed the same on the 65 and 66 Valiant.

This is a picture from last September. I went to a local show and parked by the white 66. It's a 273 Signet. I forgot that I met him a couple years ago before mine was on the road. Still had his number in my phone. Mine is the black 64. /6 because that's what I wanted.

Thanks, that's a great picture. I really like your black and red color combo on your 64.
