Are you sure they dont already have a clear coat on them ?
If not, and they are going to be outside, I would keep a mag polish/wax protectant on them.
You can also grab a set of wheel covers, like they use on RV's. The covers will help protect the wheels,plus protect the tires from the harsh sun. I personally wouldn't spray any clear on them. Yellowing flaking down the road would be worse.
