Repair a Few Tiny Pinholes in Windshield Gasket Channel?

I would at least put some rust killer product on it too. I like rustolium rust reformer

First, kill all the rust with a good phosphoric acid wash such as Ospho or POR 15’s Metal Prep.

I used rust converter and JB weld on my back window channel. No problems so far.

JB weld here too! The original works best. Not the quick dry. Not as strong a hold or structure wise.

The only way to stop it from rusting is to cut it back to good metal and replace it, anything else you do is a temporary fix. That doesn't mean that your temporary fix won't last for years if you do a good job of it, but it's still just temporary.

If all you do is clean and fill it, it will continue to rust. You can't neutralize everything between the layers of the metal unless you cut it apart and replace the bad metal. Maybe that's not what you wanted to hear, but that's what'll happen. I wish it was easier too, I'd have a lot less metal to replace on my cars, but that's just not how it is.

You have to be careful with panel bond. It tends to gas out and will lift any filler you put in contact with it. This used to happen all the time when this stuff first came out but has gotten better with time. I don't suggest it.

Totally agree with not using panel bond. Have seen it go bad several different ways, and agree with replacing the metal. You can cover it up for a while but next time it will be a much bigger hole.
