MPG Motor Magnum vs. Hemi

You can find a good used 4l80e trans for @$500. New controllers are roughly $500, but used ones are plentiful for half that. Finding the adapter for a Mopar big block used would require a lot of luck. New ones are $500ish. So, for a little over a grand you can have the best trans ever built. Add a TBI set up for about a grand, and now you've got your wish. Modern reliability, probably 20mpg and way more power and torque than the Magnum. I think all the 413's we're pretty good HP wise.
