I can’t say why one manufacturer does one thing over an another.
A larger plenum would be a move to a higher rpm operating range and a larger engine.
A smaller plenum would bennifit a smaller engine, lower operating rpm range. (Not that high rpm would be a problem) A better throttle response for the street would also be available with a smaller plenum, reduced jetting as well.
