Hello from BluePrint Engines!

Hey Tom,

Thanks for the interest! its appreciated!!! I'll try to respond below your questions in BOLD letters...lets see if i can do this correctly.

I would be possibly interested in a 408 dressed carbureted engine.
Great, i will answer the below in reference to... BPC4083CTC
Marketed at 445 HP / 500 FT LBS

BluePrint Engines 408CI Stroker Crate Engine | Small Block Chrysler Style | Dressed Longblock with Carburetor | Aluminum Heads | Flat Tappet Cam

Of course I have a few questions:

-At the rated output, what are the RPMs that the horsepower and torque come into there peaks? Max safe RPM for the engine?
The 408 in question BPC4083CTC Makes peak HP by 5500, and sustains it through 5900. I'll post a sample dyno in another post. Remember we build these for longevity, and street manners, so this is a nice street/stripable engine with almost 500 fl lbs. Lots of fun in an A-body! torque is in by 3000-3100
-What gas do you recommend? It looks to me like pump premium.
We recommend 91 octane.
-What brand of intake do you use and the numbers?
These are made with either edelbrock 7576 Or Pro products 55026. HP is not affected, sometimes we run both companies into backorder, so we need two suppliers (I'd like to mention too this is why we don't get too brand heavy in our listings, its not to be non-transparent, its because we need to keep production rolling, so if we have two good suppliers for an item, and are out of one, we have another avail)
-I see that it's a Holley carb, what is the CFM etc. and is it the one used to dyno the engine?
We use a 750 holley, again unless out of them, or if a customer requests an edelbrock. The carb shipped on the engine IS THE ONE that we use for the dyno.
-What style of distributor do you use? (brand, modifications, etc.)
Its a self sustaining unit that comes ready to run. Its private label to us. The model # is changing shortly, so we can discuss more specifically when you're ready to order.
-After the engine is broken in on the dyno, is it shipped with the break in oil still in it or is it changed and with a new filter?
The oil is drained, and a filter is not included. We DO sell break in oil, service oil, and oil filters as add-on items.
-I see that you use Edelbrock Performer RPM heads. Is that your standard on this engine?
Yes
-What headers do you recommend?
The engine would be ok with 1 5/8. I'd personally prefer 1.75, but thats a big price jump in most mopar applications. The few HP sacrificed probably aren't worth the $500 jump. Your decision.
-What brand is the cam or do you have one supplied in bulk? Manufacturer?
Most applications get a private label cam, This mopar however has a comp 20-228-4
-How does the engine sound........... e.g. the lope at idle?
This question always makes me smile.lol In my own words, its got a nice idle to it. Notably not-stock. Its not a race came..so it doesn't shake your fillings out. nor does it need to.
-What are the brands/manufacturers for the internals? (Crank, Rods, Pistons, rings, etc.)
Private label rotating assembly to our spec. Crank is from scat, to our spec. Our Rods, Pistons are forged Icons (thats UEM/KBB fyi)
-What vibration damper do you recommend? It looks like it isn't supplied with the engine............
Pro products 80012 is our go-to.
-Is the crank drilled to accept a 4 speed transmission?
Yes
-What year ranges are you using for the blocks, and is any range preferred?
Currently an LA block. 601, 830, 930 numbers. I'd be lying if i pretended to know what the mopar casting #'s mean, and i'm a mopar guy.lol Always a 360 obviously.
-How much is the shipping cost in the lower 48? Delivery after order is roughly how long?
Any engine thats not in stock takes approx 30 days. otherwise can ship same day. As far as Freight, Talk to me when you purchase...wink wink.

I do have more, but these are the basics, i'll look up the rest............
Thank you,
Tom.

Not a problem at all. I own mopars, and I sell performance engines. I almost feel guilty that they pay me to do this ;) as a forum member I help guys with stuff not even related to engines, that i encountered on my dart, or my B body. Always glad to help.

let me know if/when you're ready. Or if you have more.
