Hi everyone,

Long time reader, first time poster. Can anyone help me identify the red "secondary" door latch? I have reviewed exploded part manuals, and cannot find the number. The reason I ask is the driver door is missing the latch. I "think" it's purpose it to increase stiffness. If so, I would like to find one for the driver door.

Thanks you in advance,
Shawn

They call it a door wedge I believe. As you said it stiffens up the door to door post. There is another piece that goes on the door itself that is available in the aftermarket. I do not believe the one on the pillar is available anywhere but used.

Thank you for the replies. I cannot find the component in the manual or part explosion diagrams. When I search for door wedges I usually find the small hard rubber wedges. As a note, this is on the door, not the pillar.

I see that now. I guess I was just thinking of my 68. They moved that part to the pillar and the rubber part to the door. I don’t have a clear shot of the way it is on mine but in this pic you can see it in the upper left of the pic.

they are just anti rattle wedges and spring pieces. since there is some flex in a convertible compared to a hardtop or sedan those pieces just help stop rattling when flexed. imagine the car flexing a bit (uni-body flex over bumps and such stuff.) and the wedges that push against the spring loaded mounted piece helps it move back and forth.
here is the pieces mounted in my 66
