With regards to your first link, you can find a less expensive fast ratio version at Rockauto from Lares Corp. They offer a new one and a "rebuilt" core. I bought the new version $285 + shipping. It has a lifetime warranty. The rebuild is about $15 cheaper and has a 1 yr warranty. I can't tell if the ebay version is the Lares unit. It looks the same but the part numbers don't match the Lares numbers.

The quality of the casting appears good. I'm not sure where they are manufactured. Based on the Lares Web site it looks like the new ones might at least be assembled in the U.S. I have not installed it yet so I cannot comment on the performance. But I suspect it will work just fine.
 
I also bought the new manual Lares unit from Rock Auto. It bolted in just fine, and with about 250 miles on it, it is working fine and feels nice and firm (no center position squishiness).

A question to posts ,2 and 3... Flaming River, was selling such a product. Rebox ,and resold ?.
 
Thanks all, I've have found them new as low as $225 for the fast ratio. I'm assuming they're all coming from one source, I can see the demand for multiple manufacturers. Lares does state they are made in the USA!

The Flaming River box, at least the one I looked at, FR1540, is cast iron. The Lares Corp version is aluminum and appears to be an exact or nearly exact copy of the factory box.

The best I can determine it looks like the 82-70002NQ is a new, quick ratio, and possibly large sector. The BuyAutoParts Web site does not clearly indicate. But they offer an 82-70002R (rebuild) which does indicate large sector. The 82-70085NQ appears to be the small sector (based on the fact that they have a 82-70085R model that clearly indicates small sector). The 82-70085NQ is more expensive for some reason. The sector size may be a factor for some folks.

Could you tell what you mean by sector, I though these were all interchangeable?

The sector shaft connects to the pitman arm. There are two sizes which are grouped into "large" and "small". Most factory manual boxes are small sector with exceptions such a C-bodies and Vans. Power steering up to 72 was small sector, 73 and later was large sector.

If you have a small sector now and the steering box turns out to be large sector, then that could be a problem depending on the year of the car. You can't easily use a 73 and up power steering pitman arm on a pre-73 because Mopar changed the orientation of the ball joint end. Early ones had the threads pointing up, later ones had the threads pointing down.

Opps looks like that will be a problem I have 65 so that wouldn't work, and I just bought one :eek:

It might turn out that it is a small sector shaft. Again, from the website, it wasn't obvious which it was. Good luck!
 
It is the small sector shaft...I have two of them on A bodies...Duster and Demon
 
I just bought the 82-70002NQ and according to the listing on ebay that one is for 73 and up, so I'm assuming that's the large sector shaft
 
You can use PAA4 pitman arm from firm feel. If using the large sector shaft box on earlier center link. I believe....

For the extra cost, I'd just pay extra for the other box
 
Just canceled my order, it seems it was for large sector shaft, wont work in my 69. bummer....
 
I think the best deal is PST $299 -10% for fabo!
 
Our 16:1 is a small sector shaft box. For members of the forum the cost is $269 ( $299 less member discount) and free shipping with in the USA 48 states.
