Why did Mopar make so many green cars?
Hey I was around then, and green was one of the most popular colors from 1968 thru 73. Not just cars, but house appliances, carpet, and house colors. Muscle cars, Sedans, Wagons, it didn't matter. To this day I have four green cars, a 68' Charger, 1969 Coronet, a 1969' Cuda 383 four speed, and a beautiful 1971 Demon. After green, yellow was right up there back in 69'. same went on Camaros, Mustangs, and Chevelles..
Back in 1971 the two fastest cars on base was a 70' Chevelle 454(Green) and a 1971 440 GTX six pack four speed.(Dark Green) The Mopar won most of the time. There was a fast 428 Cobra jet 1970 Torino, and it was Yellow! but it lost most of the time. once in a while a Guy off TDY showed up with a 69' Hemi Superbee, the game was over. and it was yellow!(Minot AFB, North Dakota)Feb 1971-Aug 1972)
The Coronet in the picture is F8 green, and the Cuda, not shown is also F8 Green. The Charger is TT1 Green.
The red GTX shows I am not totally color Blind! HAHAHA
