allrighty ladies, and gents my current project is swapping my 1969 dodge dart from a power steering to manual. so my question to you guys is do i need a new steering column? as my new gearbox seems shorter, or is there a adjustment/ adapter, or extension i need?

thanks, Thomas

I did this in my 68 by buying a used complete manual steering column assembly. Because my existing column was in better shape than the "new"one, I swapped the longer manual shaft into my power column.

At one time Mopar Performance sold an adaptor to take up the difference in length. As usual the MP part was nothing more than a renumbered factory part. I believe it was originally used in Dodge trucks and vans when equipped with manual steering. Steering column could then remain the same with the adaptor used for manuals. They're out there in junkyards.

No I think it's the same dimensions that way but I haven't even got the damn thing out yet my headers don't want to let go lol
I noticed your 2018 post. I’m where you were when you posted this. I’m thinking of removing the starter and jacking the left side of the engine up to get the power steering gear out. Did you have to do this?
