1967 k member upgrades (idler)

With everting done the k member and engine components are loaded and off to the powder coater.

Remember to wear safety glasses when welding and grinding or you will buy yourself a trip to the eye doctor.

I completed the work to the k memeber. I have posted the pictures below and more in the next post. I Seam Welded all-the-way-around on the 50 year oil soaked car part. It has it challenges. There was a lot of contaminates in the seams. I used a propane torch to heat the edges to burn out the oil. I was conservative and only heated the edge and skipped around the paremeter avoid warpage. This helped some but. It 100%. Your welds will look nasty so I ground them out 2-3 times to get a clean weld.

I then moved to adding plates to the lower control arm and steering box mount.

Tacked in place...I stuffed a cotton rag in the tube to keep weld berries out.

Do not use sheet metal any thicker than .120 or the lower control arm will be too short. Grind everting flush so the washer and bolt for the LCA has a good seat.
