I used to be able to get 117 octane near where I worked...
I did notice that when I ran just pump gas in my 68 340 Barracuda that when I would start it in the morning to go to work, then pull it out of the back yard, while getting out to close the gates the car would die while cold idling...
When I ran either straight hi octane or a mix of hi octane and pump gas, it would not die when cold idling while I closed the gate and would still be running when I got back in the car... For some reason the hi octane was not as sensitive to cold idling...
