What does it cost?
This is my current experience as the car isn't ready yet. (All prices are in Canadian Dollars)
So, we're in September 2014, the father-in-law of one of my good friends passed away and his daughter asked me if I was interested in the car (she knew I was).
Front subframe was half eaten by rust, and everything holding the leaf springs in the back were also eaten to oblivion... result, the leafs went thru the trunk and rusted shut there.
Expense #1: Tow the car for inspection before buying it. (3 hours of gentle pulling with a winch and a few miles later: 400$)
Expense #2: I decided to go ahead and buy it (1000$)
Expense #3: All 4 Tires are rotten and cracked, there's no battery... so I get cheap ones from Canadian Tire (Motomaster AW) and a battery (500$)
Expense #4: I get the car to a body shop to rebuild the subframes and rear suspension (3600$ for the rebuild, 450$ for new leafs: Calvert Racing Split-Mono leafs)
Expense #5: Motor Oil, Oil Filter, Fuel Filter, Air Filter, Wipers, Rear Brake Cylinders, Rear Brake Drums, Rear Brake Shoes, Rear Brake Springs, Valve Cover Gaskets, Spark Plugs (500$)
Expense #6: 4 Napa Shocks (200$)
Expense #7: Tow the car (using CAA card 0$), Deposit for garage (1000$)
Expense #8: Order TTI Dual Exhaust for the Dart (Deposit+100$)
will install TTI Dual Exhaust, Wilwood Front Disk Brakes and correct everything needed for it to pass inspection. (I still have 4000$ ready for this)
