Here hopefully is some information for those looking to install the 2 single scoops at the right location on their hood. This is a template for measurements that were made from an original factory 70 Swinger 340 hood with the scoops. It is large, so it's hard to show close ups. The template starts at 6 3/8 inches in from the fender edge of the hood on the left side and 6 1/2 inches in from the fender edge of the hood on the right side. On the left side fender edge of the hood to the center of the outer rear mounting stud hole would be 12 inches. Same applies for the right side. Going from those holes perpendicular to the back edge of the hood would be 4 7/8 inches again to the center of the hole. The space between those same 2 outer most rear holes is 34 3/4 inches in width from center of hole to center of hole, side to side. The outer front holes are slightly oblong front to back and measure 38 1/4 inches in width from center of hole to center of hole, side to side. The functional scoop opening round holes are approx. 4 inches in diameter and from center of the hole to center of the hole, side to side, is 23 1/4. Measuring from the back edge of the hood in line with the rear inner mounting hole for the scoop stud going front from that back edge of the hood toward the front would be 22 1/2 inches to the center of the functional opening. Using these measurements should be enough to get the scoops in place, and then you can use the studs for marking correct placement of the other holes needed that have not been mentioned. If you have any questions, please post or PM. Glad to help.

I think the holes for the scoop studs are obvious under the hood, they are open through the underbracing if I remember correctly...

That is a good starting point underneath for reference beginning. These measurements on top provide the exact placement as those provisions underneath are larger than the stud hole also provided on this thread is the correct placement for the air holes

Placing the scoops on a hood is easy. You don't need a template.

Some of the holes for the twin scoops are in the inner frame as stated.

Take a large deep well socket that fits these holes and place it in the hole upside down. Use a 3/8 or 1/2 transfer punch depending on the socket you use. Center punch the hole from the under side through the square in the socket. There will be four holes you can mark this way .

Turn the hood over and set the scoop in place to make sure these four line up to the dimples you put in. Some after market scoops are smaller and won't fit the original holes. Also 72 hoods have a place for Snorkle and twin scoops. use the correct holes.

Now drill these four holes 1/4" for now. Set the scoop in place with all studs in the scoop and align them with the holes you drilled. Move the scoop pressing down to make marks for the other four holes per side. Drill all holes 3/8 with a step drill including the first four you drilled 1/4 per side.

Presto the scoops are now fitted to the hood to the factory location. Remember to use bell nuts or the scoop will not get snug to the hood. You are all welcome and now I just put the guy selling the templates out of business. Unless' you are using a fiberglass hood this system works every time. Steve

I think I may have one of the orig templates that a member was selling here (still in it's shipping tube) in storage. I never installed mine and the car was eventually sold.
