I should have done a Manual J on that house. The house was built in the early 50's and probably didn't have a/c until the furnace needed replacing. At that time if the contractor just took a guess or went by square feet to size the unit it could be too big by today's standards. The house has been updated with siding, insulation and energy efficient windows. The Manual J study takes all that into consideration.
