Stop in for a cup of coffee

I got a non-AC question...
Been seeing 'different' looking paints in the past year or two. Greys and tans mostly. Dodge, Jeep and Toyotas mostly. I think Dodge calls theirs 'destroyer grey'.

Paints look really different, no metallic, look almost 'creamy' for lack of a better description.

Question is, some special paint? Is it some different clear coat? What makes them look so different?

I especially like the grey on the Toyota Tundra. Interested in putting something similar on my Scout. Any info on what's so special with these paints?
They look different because they are base coat/clear coat, not single stage like it was back in the day. The clear coat gives that deep luster even without any metallic. Plus the clear on the Mopar is a crystal pearl clear.
